Cats
All the felines of CheyAut Ranch are important members of our family. As such, they are all
strictly indoors, and all are spayed/neutered. At our next house we will be building them an
outdoor enclosure that they can go into through a kitty door, so they they can safely enjoy
the great outdoors without danger. Many of our kitties are available free to a good home
(references required). If they are, it will say so in their description :)
Hollow is short for Halloween, because that is the time that I
found him as a stray. He must have had a home before, as he is
VERY sweet and loving. I found him in 1998, and gained some
of his trust by feeding. Not enough to touch him though, so I
rented a trap, with the intention of neutering him then
re-releasing him. But the release part never happened, as I fell
in love with this sweetie :)
I saw Lexiva at the adoption center in Petsmart in
2004, but he wasn't with the other kitties. I soon
learned he was sick with an URI, so was going back
to the pound, where he would most likely be PTS
due to the high volume of healthy cats they had. I
called them and got permission to adopt him, got
him healthy, and have a very fun (though rather
round!) kitty to love on :)
Lyric was also adopted from the AzHS via Petsmart.
I got her as a kitten in 2004. I had always wanted a
black longhaired kitty, but was being picky on
purrsonality (as I want friendly, people-oriented
kitties). I wasn't really looking for another kitty,
but she fit what I wanted to a T, so I couldn't
resist! Lyric is definately the Princess here!
After I had to put my first kitty to sleep in 2004, a
friend of mine had heard about a litter of kittens
brought to the vet where her friend works to be
bottle fed. She decided to get me one of these
kitties, and so entered Q. Q is a funny kitty, as her
tail is abnormally long, and she prefers to play by
herself. She is affectionate, but only when she
wants to be. Contact us if you'd like to "adopt" Q!
Craig and I were at Petsmart one day in 2005 when we saw a couple outside with
two adorable kittens. When I commented on them, the couple told us they needed
homes, since they couldn't have them in their apartment. I begged Craig to let me
have the female, but he said we couldn't leave her brother by himself, so both came
home that day! Lynx (the girl) and Jeep (the boy) are both very loving. Lynx LOVES
to lay on me, and Jeep loves to cause trouble! Contact us if you'd like to adopt Lynx
and/or Jeep!
I mentioned I found Hollow. Well, that was back
when I lived in a neighborhood. I bought my house
in the coyote-filled desert in 2004. Not a safe place
for a kitty. So I was very shocked in 2006 when I
came home and found a stray in my yard! I meowed
back and forth with him until he felt safe enough to
come to me, and found out he was a total love. I
brought him in and asked Craig if we could keep
him if we found no owner. He said that that kitty
looked like charcoal, so that's how he got his name.
He's really weird: he acts stoned all the time!
Charcoal is so sweet and loving though, you can't
help but smile at him :)
In 2006 a friend at work was given 2 kittens that were found orphaned. They didn't
even have their eyes open yet. So she took them in and bottle fed them. Once they
were old enough to be spayed, she gave the sisters to us. I absolutely adore sleek
black Lilli and pudgy grey Surri. They love to cuddle in bed with me, and also love to
lay in the sink! Surri can usually be found laying in strange positions! Contact us if
you'd like to "adopt" Lilli or Surri!

Remember how I got Kadian? The following year
(2007) we did 2 animal fairs in one weekend. At
the second I saw a gorgeous longhair calico. 2
years old, this girl BEGGED everyone to take her
home. I decided to see if anyone took her that
day... nope! So we just had to :) Chameleon (aka
Chami) loves everyone she meets! And she fit in
our house from day one! She KNEW she was meant
to be here :) Contact us if you'd like to "adopt"
Chameleon!

Alaska and kittens
Alaska came here June '07. A coworker found her as
a kitten, born 9/06. Then she escaped the house
and got pregnant, having her litter on Father's Day.
Coworker couldn't keep her (landlord found out
about them!) so she and her week old kittens came
here to be fostered. However, we fell in love and
they all got to stay here :) Contact us if you'd like
to "adopt" Alaska, Swirl, Sparrow, Turtle or
Batman!

Keppra and Lunesta
In 2011 we saw these girls in the adoption part of Petsmart. We had NO desire to
bring more kitties to our home. But something about these girls just caught my eye,
so I asked Craig if we could take them home, expecting a huge NO. Craig, however,
saw how much these two sisters love each other, and didn't want them to get
adopted to seperate homes, so they ended up coming home with us afterall! Contact
us if you'd like to "adopt" Lunesta or Keppra!
Black Jack
In 2011 I found yet another kitty surviving outside
on his own. He had a wounded tail, but it was
healing well. He let me pet him a little and then was
on his way. I saw him again one time and this time
I brought him inside. Not finding an owner, Black
Jack got to become another resident of our home :)
He is a very sweet and vocal boy! Contact us if
you'd like to "adopt" Black Jack!
Cricket and kittens
Not very long after finding Black Jack, I found a beautiful kitty and her three kittens
outside! Cricket must've been someone's pet at one time as she is very sweet and
loving. The kittens, however, were not handled until I found and captured them,
sometime around 5 or 6 weeks? I'm hoping to tame them down. If I find a good
home for them that's great, but if not or if they stay wild, they can stay here. The
orange is the bravest, so I have named him Toaster. The torti looks just like
momma, so she is Ditto. Craig named the black one, she is Phantom. Contact us if
you'd like to "adopt" Cricket!
